What is Your WHY?
Your ‘WHY’ is the deep-rooted reason that drives you, the purpose that fuels your actions and decisions. It’s the core of your being, the foundation of your existence. Understanding and embracing your ‘WHY’ is crucial for personal growth and fulfillment.
Often, I answered the question, “Is Your WHY Strong Enough?” with the tenets that enforce my why. The foundation on which I stand gives me strength. My faith guides me and allows me to present a compelling argument. This strength anchors my daily walk.
But I never answer WHY!
The Truth Behind Rubies
Rubies, one of the most precious gems, are forged under immense heat and pressure. Toxic elements to which they are exposed give them their beautiful color.
Like rubies, we too can emerge from our trials vibrant, strong, and beautiful, a testament to our resilience and strength.
Often, we must go through our storms to build the forge. This ensures that our WHY has the tenacity and fortitude. It helps to sustain us each and every day.
My WHY was forged through my “Awakening” and the devastating loss of my precious daughter, a chasm within my marriage. The birth of my oldest son marked the beginning of my “Understanding.” I fought through trials and tribulations to comprehend his medical condition. I worked tirelessly to obtain adequate and proper medical care for him. Last, my “Mission” is to help heal childhood trauma. I aim to ensure everyone understands their voice is their power. I also want to bring awareness that self-care encompasses both mental and emotional well-being. The birth and love of my youngest son shaped this purpose in me.
A son who, at three, told me, “Mommy, I want to be an Angel.”
The Awakening
During my awakening, Yahweh/God reaffirmed the commitment I had made to Him. He placed me in the Elohim Theological University under His guidance. The Elohim Theological University is a place of spiritual learning and education. It is a space for growth. There, I deepened my understanding of Word and Kingdom Living. His Prophet told me the morning after my miscarriage. I had cried out to Him all night, locked away. I was refusing to eat or talk to anyone, including my husband. He said, ‘How can I teach you to care for my daughters if you have not been through the fire first!’ Not the exact wording, but the core meaning of what was said. From that moment on, I learned I would be prepared to teach each lesson later. This was true even if I hadn’t created the situation through disobedience. My first ministry was to mothers who had suffered miscarriages until I was noticeably pregnant again.
The Understanding
I knew something was wrong during the first three years of my oldest child’s life. People ignored me because I was young and black. They considered me inexperienced. A new mom, yes. Inexperienced no! I worked with new moms and newborns years before this marriage and in this family. So, I understood I should follow my gut and seek help for my child. I promised myself I would never allow another mother to face struggles alone. I wanted to prevent others from encountering closed doors and silenced whispers, just as I had.
My mission is the total sum of battles overcome and wars fought. I have the ability to shatter the ceilings meant to imprison. I can crush shackles intended to break me. Despite everything, through the eyes of my youngest, my mission was crystallized. For my son, I was determined to create a space where he would shine. He would be seen there. His voice would be heard. To ingrain knowledge that love is not conditional or contractual, especially from me. Counter the influence of other perspectives. Show him he is someone beyond the pain and trauma of childhood. He transcends medical diagnoses or physical limitations.
Formation of the Amethyst
My ‘WHY’ is the foundation of my corporation. It is embedded in my Reason for Mission and Vision statements. It is also the core part of my signature framework for the W.W.H.Y. platform.
Like Rubies, life’s heat and pressures shaped and guided me to my purpose. Allowing me to look as radiant and beautiful as the Amethyst that I am.
