You Are Never Alone: A Sabbath Revelation
This Sabbath, my ABBA, my Yahweh/ the LORD, led me into a profound study. For the past few weeks, I’ve chosen a verse to meditate on, and this week, it was one of my favorites: Revelation 3:20.
It’s the beautiful scripture where the Messiah tells us He is knocking at the door of our hearts, promising that if we hear Him and let Him in, He will come in and dine with us, and we with Him, as friends.
But this time, the study went deeper. Yahweh/ the LORD took me back, all the way back to Genesis, to show me that this promise of His presence is not new. It’s a thread woven throughout all of history.
He showed me His faithfulness to Father Abraham. His unwavering presence with Joseph through betrayal, enslavement, and imprisonment in a foreign land. His protection over Moses, from preserving him as a baby from a death edict to leading His people for 40 years in the wilderness.
He reminded me of His promise to Joshua: “I will never leave you or forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). He brought to mind Jacob’s Ladder, connecting heaven and earth, and the time He opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant to see the heavenly host that outnumbered their enemies (2 Kings 6:17).
Through it all, Yahweh was asking me a simple, piercing question: “Why do you say you’re alone?”
And I realized there’s a crucial difference between needing human companionship and being alone. There’s a difference between needing a H-U-G, a non-sexual human touch that has its own power to ground us when our world is shattering, and truly being forsaken. These are natural, physical desires of our flesh.
I remember a day, years ago, when I questioned Yahweh. I was in the middle of a fellowship, listening to others proclaim His love, yet I felt utterly alone. My family was in crisis, I was young in my faith, and the only believer in my home. I felt like King David in Psalm 22, as if God had forgotten me.
In my heart, I cried out, “If you love me, then you would hug me.”
I told no one. But Overseer Sara Lloyd, prompted by Yahweh, stopped the entire program, called me over, and gave me a hug.
In that moment, I learned I really can’t say I’m alone at all.
Throughout my life, Yahweh has shown Himself to be my guide and companion. He answered my prayers, rescued me from situations that destroyed others, and He still speaks to me, for I know His voice.
So, in my study this week of Messiah knocking at the door, I saw so much more. I saw a loving Father who has always promised to be with His children, no matter where they are or how they got there. And I saw a Big Brother, a friend who desires to dine with us weekly, in the presence of our ABBA Father.
The next time you feel alone, remember His promise. For all who believe in He who hung on the cross, know this: you are never alone. He has promised to always be with you.
